She hadn’t really  MEANT to run the ship aground.

The thing was, things were… uncomfortable… since the first mate, an unpleasant pirate, had staged a mutiny and set himself up as captain.

She’d needed a quick getaway.

She HAD known the storm was coming. AND she may have moved their position on the chart, so the the captain had unwittingly steered them closer to land. AND she may holed all but one of the jolly boats, so anyone deserting couldn’t be followed. BUT, she thought, as she hoisted her flag to signal for a lift, and shrugged into the captain’s damp but much warmer coat, things did seem to have worked out alright after all.
